They were published and people seemed to like them. However, the amount of time and money put into never equaled what came back out. I could have turned to write junk, and gotten it published by a big time publisher who would have tossed me a few bucks, edited it the way they wanted to, pushed the book for 6 months, gone to paperback, then pulped it all. Then came the internet. For a long time I have wondered about just doing a book that I put up on the web for anyone to read. There are plusses and minuses. A plus is I can put it up as I have time and not have everything all perfect at the same time. I can also make changes if I find new and interesting information, or link to an interesting book, or highly detailed description of something I could not other wise have fit into a printed volume.   So here it is. My book on the American soldier in the Great War. I hope you find something in it of interest.

With the Australian Expeditionary Force already fighting in Europe, The American Expeditionary Force sent to France had to have a different name to prevent communications problems. Thus the official name of the Americans in France was "AMEXFORCE".
